Follow these steps before, during, and after your new luxury vinyl installation to minimize displacement and aid the installation crew for fantastic, finished results.
Before Luxury Vinyl Installation:
When preparing for new luxury vinyl installation, take these key steps beforehand:
- Remove all furniture, electronics, wall hangings, and items from the rooms and closets receiving new luxury vinyl floors.
- Complete all new painting and paint touch-ups before luxury vinyl installation day.
- Since many luxury vinyl products offer floating installation and can be installed over an existing floor, you may not need to remove the current floors!
- Once your subfloor has been professionally assessed and any needed repairs are completed, you are cleared for luxury vinyl installation.
During Luxury Vinyl Installation:
On the day of your new luxury vinyl installation, make sure to consider the following:
- Plan for an adult to be home to answer any questions that arise for the installers.
- Designate an area for the crew to keep luxury vinyl installation tools and saws, keep boxes of materials, and saw planks to size as needed.
- Keep all children and pets away from the rooms receiving new luxury vinyl floors and the designated worker’s area.
After Luxury Vinyl Installation:
After your new luxury vinyl installation is complete, follows these helpful guidelines:
- Wait for the specified amount of time before walking on new luxury vinyl floors and returning furnishings to the rooms.
- If your new luxury vinyl was installed as a floating floor, it may be ready for light foot traffic right away!
- Always lift furniture or use proper moving equipment with rollers to avoid scratching the surface.
- We recommend using felt protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to reduce impact.
