Hardwood Installation

We know just how exciting new hardwood installation is and we encourage our clients to explore these valuable considerations to ensure a smooth process.
Follow these steps before, during, and after your new hardwood installation to minimize displacement and aid the installation crew for fantastic, finished results.

Before Hardwood Installation:

When preparing for new hardwood installation, take these key steps beforehand:

  • Remove all furniture, electronics, wall hangings, and items from the rooms and closets receiving new hardwood floors.
  • Complete all new painting and paint touch-ups before hardwood installation day.
  • Since hardwood cannot be installed over an existing floor, the current floors must be removed entirely and disposed of.
  • Repair any imperfections in the subfloor to ensure a completely smooth surface.
  • Bring the hardwood planks into the room to acclimate to the humidity level and conditions for at least 48 hours.

During Hardwood Installation:

On the day of your new hardwood installation, make sure to consider the following:

  • Plan for an adult to be home to answer any questions that arise for the installers.
  • Designate an area for the crew to keep hardwood installation tools and saws, keep boxes of hardwood, and saw planks to size as needed.
  • Keep all children and pets away from the rooms receiving new hardwood floors and the designated worker’s area.

After Hardwood Installation:

After your new hardwood installation is complete, follows these helpful guidelines:

  • Wait for the specified amount of time before walking on new hardwood floors and returning furnishings to the rooms.
  • Always lift furniture or use proper moving equipment with rollers to avoid scratching the wood surface.
  • We recommend using felt protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to reduce impact.
