Follow these steps before, during, and after your new tile installation to minimize displacement and aid the installation crew for fantastic, finished results.
Before Tile Installation:
When preparing for new tile installation, take these key steps beforehand:
- Remove all furniture, electronics, wall hangings, and items from the rooms and closets receiving new tile floors.
- Complete all new painting and paint touch-ups before tile installation day.
- Since tile cannot be installed over an existing floor, the current floors must be removed entirely and disposed of.
- Repair any imperfections in the subfloor to ensure a completely smooth surface.
During Tile Installation:
On the day of your new tile installation, make sure to consider the following:
- Plan for an adult to be home to answer any questions that arise for the installers.
- Designate an area for the crew to keep tile installation tools, mix grout, keep boxes of tile, and cut tiles to size as needed.
- Keep all children and pets away from the rooms receiving new tile floors and the designated worker’s area.
After Tile Installation:
After your new tile installation is complete, follows these helpful guidelines:
- Wait for the specified amount of time before walking on new tile floors and returning furnishings to the rooms.
- Tile floors need time to set, and grout needs time to cure to ensure an even surface.
- Always lift furniture or use proper moving equipment with rollers to avoid scratching the tile surface.
- We recommend using felt protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to reduce impact.
