Carpet Installation
We know just how exciting new carpet installation is and we encourage our clients to explore these valuable considerations to ensure an efficient, smooth process.
Follow these steps before, during, and after your new carpet installation to minimize displacement and aid the installation crew for fantastic, finished results.
Before Carpet Installation:
When preparing for new carpet installation, take these key steps beforehand:
- Remove all furniture, electronics, wall hangings, and items from the rooms and closets receiving new carpet.
- Complete all new painting and paint touch-ups before carpet installation day.
- Since carpet cannot be installed over an existing floor, the current floors must be removed entirely and disposed of.
- Repair any imperfections in the subfloor to ensure a completely smooth surface.
During Carpet Installation:
On the day of your new carpet installation, make sure to consider the following:
- Plan for an adult to be home to answer any questions that arise for the installers.
- Designate an area for the crew to keep carpet installation tools such as knee-kickers and nail guns, as well as cut carpet to size as needed.
- Keep all children and pets away from the rooms receiving new carpet and the designated worker’s area.
After Carpet Installation:
After your new carpet installation is complete, follows these helpful guidelines:
- Wait for the specified amount of time before walking on new carpet and returning furnishings to the rooms.
- Always lift furniture or use proper moving equipment with rollers to avoid snagging the carpet.
- We recommend using felt protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to reduce impact.
- You will most likely experience normal shedding for the first month when vacuuming the newly installed carpet.
